Inaugural Meeting of the Electoral Literacy Club 2023-24: Empowering Young Voters in Pune
The Inaugural Meeting of the Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) for the 2023-24 academic year took place in Pune, marking the beginning of a new journey to empower young voters. This collaborative effort, organized by the District Collector, District Election Office, Worship Earth Foundation, and the Villoo Poonawala Foundation, aims to raise voter awareness and encourage democratic participation among the youth.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Rajesh Deshmukh, District Collector & District Electoral Officer, Pune, and Mrs. Minal Kalaskar, Deputy District Election Officer, Pune. Other notable attendees included Mrs. Archana Tambe, Deputy Collector, SWEEP; Mr. Tejas Gujarathi, CEO of Worship Earth Foundation; and Mr. Altaf Pirjade, State Coordinator of ELC & Worship Earth Foundation.

The vision of the Electoral Literacy Club is to create a generation of informed and responsible citizens who are aware of their electoral rights and responsibilities. By engaging students from various colleges, the club seeks to instill a deep understanding of the democratic process and the importance of voting in shaping the nation’s future.
The mission of ELC 2023-24 is to conduct regular voter awareness programs, workshops, and activities that educate students about the electoral process, encourage voter registration, and promote active participation in elections. Through this initiative, the club aspires to make voting a civic duty embraced by all, ensuring that every eligible voter exercises their fundamental right and contributes to a healthy and thriving democracy.
