From a Mega Clean-Up Drive to a Yearly People’s Movement
My River, My Valentine – A Movement for Mula-Mutha
In 2019, Worship Earth Foundation organized a Mega River Clean-Up Drive with a heartfelt Maha Aarti of the Mula-Mutha River, marking a turning point in Pune’s environmental journey. Inspired by the overwhelming participation and devotion, the Foundation decided to launch “My River, My Valentine” in 2020.Since then, the initiative has grown into a powerful movement. Over the last five years, we have covered 136+ main and sub-ghats and 15+ bridges of Pune, spreading awareness and action. The campaign has mobilized 1,00,000+ volunteers, with students, citizens, and organizations joining hands to protect the river.
Together, we have removed 65+ tonnes of dry garbage, giving new life to the riverbanks. In 2024, the campaign extended beyond Pune to five districts of Maharashtra – Latur, Ahmednagar, Satara, Nagpur, and Wardha – proving that this is more than a city event; it’s a people’s revolution. Our founder, Mr. Parag Mate, believes that the river is our mother – the lifeline of the city – and it is our responsibility to keep her clean. With support from individuals, NGOs, and student communities, My River, My Valentine has become a symbol of unity, awareness, and love for our rivers.

Vision
Our vision is to revive and rejuvenate rivers, starting with Pune’s Mula-Mutha, and extend this model to rivers across India. We aim to make rivers pollution-free, accessible, and full of life once again. We envision communities taking ownership of their rivers as symbols of culture, heritage, and love. By inspiring citizens to connect emotionally with rivers, we seek to turn awareness into long-term responsibility.A clean river is not just an environmental need but a foundation for health, sustainability, and future generations.
Mission
Our mission is to unite people through the initiative My River My Valentine, transforming affection for rivers into collective action. We work with volunteers, colleges, schools, and organizations to create large-scale clean-up drives and awareness campaigns. We combine cultural practices like Maha Aarti with social responsibility to strengthen the bond between people and rivers.Every year, we mobilize thousands of citizens to take part in impactful activities that directly restore river health. Through consistent efforts, partnerships, and community involvement, we aim to set a nationwide example of river conservation
